Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts–Media (emphasis in photography) from the University of California at San Diego, and certifications in Graphic Design and Web Design through UC San Diego Extension, Digital Arts Center Program. He's also earned IT certifications from Microskills Technical Education Center and has gone through a Coding Bootcamp as well as has completed online coding programs. He's been designing and building WordPress websites since 2009 and has been a member of Agency Mavericks since 2018.
His foundation began with traditional film processes (35mm, 120mm, 4x5). He began his career in media as a commercial and editorial photographer working as a Contributing Photographer for SURFER Magazine, Longboard Magazine, and The Surfer's Journal, and through working on hundreds of productions as an Assistant Photographer to some of the best in the business.
He found himself in the middle of the Digital Revolution, and as the forward-thinking person that he is, naturally transitioned to "everything digital." All of those experiences contribute to outstanding design and technical sensibilities with his current work in digital design and development.
Ben is inherently very curious and enjoys learning new things, and figuring out how and why they work. He's passionate about branding, design, development, and marketing. So, if he's not exploring design, websites, learning a programming language, or digital marketing, he's taking the time to foster creativity, inspiration, and health through exploring the outdoors. In his spare time, you're most likely to find him surfing, bodysurfing, hiking, or walking the beach.
